5 Francs Napoléon laureate head | Gold

The 5 Francs gold Napoléon was struck between 1854 and 1868. It exists with Napoléon bare head or laureate head. Offered here is the laureate head version, issued between 1862 and 1868.

The obverse shows Napoléon III in right profile and the reverse the face value « 5 francs » within a wreath of olive. It is 900 thousandths fine, weighs 1.61 grams, with a diameter of 17 mm.
