Britannia 1 oz | Silver

The silver Britannia is a coin issued by the Royal Mint in the United Kingdom. The obverse carries the effigy of the British monarch; the reverse shows Britannia, the allegorical figure of the United Kingdom, helmeted and holding a trident and a shield in the colours of the Union, designed by Philip Nathan.

It is struck at 999 thousandths of silver, the 999.9 fineness being reserved for gold, and contains one troy ounce of silver, that is 31.1 grams, for a diameter of 38.6 mm. Recent strikes carry security features: a latent image alternating a padlock and a trident, a background of fine waves and micro-text. Its face value is 2 pounds.
