Half Napoléon Coq Marianne | Gold

The 10 Francs gold Napoléon, called the Half Napoléon, takes the characteristics of the 20 Francs Napoléon halved: its weight and face value are half those of the 20 Francs, which gives it its name. It is 900 thousandths fine, weighs 3.22 grams, for a diameter of 19 mm.

The version offered here is the Coq type, struck between 1899 and 1914: the obverse shows Marianne, the allegory of the Republic; the reverse shows the Gallic rooster with the motto « Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité » and the face value « 10 francs ».
