5 Roubles Alexander III | Gold

The 5 Roubles Alexander III was struck from 1886 to 1894. The obverse shows Alexander III, emperor of Russia from 1886 until his death in 1894, and the reverse the double-headed imperial eagle, the face value and the year.

Unlike the 5 Roubles Nicholas II, the 5 Roubles Alexander III was struck at a time when Russia was aligned with the Latin Monetary Union; it therefore weighs 6.45 grams, at 900 thousandths, for a diameter of 21.3 mm.
