Elizabeth Sovereign | Gold

The Elizabeth II Sovereign is a British gold coin struck from 1957, with the same physical characteristics as the Sovereign: it is 916.7 thousandths fine, with a gross weight of 7.99 grams for a diameter of 22 mm.

The obverse shows the profile of Queen Elizabeth II surrounded by the inscription « +elizabeth·ii·dei·gratia·regina·f:d: », engraved by Mary Gillick.

The reverse shows Saint George slaying the dragon, with the year and the initials « b.p. » of Benedetto Pistrucci.
