40 Francs Louis XVIII | Gold

The 40 Francs Louis XVIII was struck between 1816 and 1824.

The obverse shows the portrait of Louis XVIII and the reverse the face value « 40 francs » on either side of a crowned shield of France between two olive branches, together with the year and the mint mark. It is 900 thousandths fine, weighs 12.90 grams, with a diameter of 26 mm.

Louis XVIII was King of France and Navarre from 1814 until his death in 1824.
